LONELY BOY

Solitary games were the desperate resource for any game fanatic who was missing a group, even in the era preceding the PC (and the Commodore 64!): I spent months on a booklet by G. Dossena, "Solitary games with cards and others" ("Solitari con le carte e altri solitari" - Mondadori, 1976), finding out that there were tons of these games, besides the two games I once learnt with my family (one was a variation of "Napoleon", the other I don't know!). Among these games were the "Big Clock" and "Edvige", very very fun games.
Before that book, I only had one type of "solitary game" in my mind: just like the non-gamers, to whom you can explain your hobby and get a funny look back in their eyes, saying "Oh yeah, snakes and ladders".
I wish Dossena could convert all of them...
