YOU DON'T NEED THIS DISEASE*

The interview opening this issue of GiocAreA On-Line is particularly dear to my heart: the experience I feel with GAOL is amazing and the -short- experience I felt together with Andrea Angiolino with GiocAreA (the printed magazine) was terrific; in France they still have these kinds of magazines, and this is very encouraging.
Is there really a market for these specialised magazines? Germany has one of the most beautiful magazines - Spielbox - but its print run is about 15.00 copies (they say), which is nothing compared to the number of games being printed; USA does not have a magazine of that type, and France goes from the professional JSP to the 'zine driving other less "ludic" countries.
The geek finds deep analysis right on the web, real time: if we look at him, we shall know that he knows English, and he does not need our help to find the best strategy in Puerto Rico or War of the Ring, or the next games available in Essen.
General online targeted magazines (like GAOL or Kaos-on-line), printed ones (like the brand new GMM by Stratelibri - an Italian issue), must be the compass in this sea of contents: their editors use their tastes, bad or good it's up to you to say, to filter the most interesting news among the "mare magnum" of numerous contents, and providing a product that is background-noise-free (so to speak, the one that can be found in forum and groups).
Long live the editors!
