Preparation
The game is played by two players. For the game you need five six-sided dice (d6). Moreover, you need ten coins per player.

Object of the game
To massacre your opponent inflicting him ten damages!

Beginning of the game
The lazier player begins.
Note: obviously, it is possible that the lazier player would not take the initiative. This would lead to delays in the beginning of the game. In these situations the rule says that each player throws the five dice and who has more 6 begins.
During his turn the player is “attacking”; his opponent is “defending”. The attack is done as follows: the player rolls the five d6, after which he can re-roll the dice he wants (however, each time he must keep at least one die, so that the attack will be composed at most of five rolls).
The goal is to try to damage the opponent, with each “6” being a possible damage.
When the attacker has completed his throws, the defender must try to parry: he chooses one of the numbers shown by the dice and throws all the dice that show that number. But beware!: with a single roll now he has to obtain at least one die with a higher number, and he has only one possibility.
If he fails, he suffers one damage for each “6” that the attacker has rolled, plus an additional damage. If he succeeds, instead, the attacker suffers as many damages as the difference between the thrown number and the lower among the attack dice.
Eliminate the same number of coins from your hand to show the damages.

First example
The player M attacks, rolling 2 1 6 3 5 at the first throw. He decides to keep the 6 and the 5 and throws again the other dice, obtaining 5 2 6 (so far he has 6 6 5 5 2). He decides to do re-roll the 2: he gets a 3.
So his attack is 6 6 5 5 3 (as a rule of thumb, it is cool to order the dice form the highest to the lowest: it simplifies the calculations).
The player R defends. He can throw the dice he wants, but he must roll at least one die of a higher value than the number he decided to roll.
R has three possible choices:
- to throw the two 6 (useless! He cannot obtain a value higher than 6);
- to throw the two 5 and try to roll at least one 6. If he does not succeed he will suffer three damages (M has thrown two 6, plus one additional damage). If R succeeds, instead, he will inflict to M two damages, i.e. 5 (the number he chose to throw again) minus 3 (the lower value of the attack);
- to throw the 3 trying to roll 4 or more. In this case the defense is easier, but if R succeeds, he won’t inflict any damage.
What will R do? He has only six seconds to decide…

Second example
Let’s suppose that M has thrown 6 6 6 5 1 as his attack.
R now has two choices:
- throw the 1, being almost sure to succeed but not to inflict any damage.
- throw the 5, being almost sure to not succeed; but if he succeeds he inflicts M no less than 4 damages (= 5 – 1).
The situation is really prickly: this is the genre of choices that everybody would wish to avoid when playing at the ALPHATIAN ROULETTE!

Swap of the roles
Now the defender becomes the attacker and vice versa: R throws the five dice to attack and M defends. The game proceeds in the same manner until one of the player reaches or exceeds 10 damages… i.e. dies!

Game suggestions
The Roulette is very simple and each game lasts from two to three minutes. Even though, attacker and defender have often atrocious doubts. In this legendary game, the attacker threw 6 5 5 5 5. This could have been a great throw but the defender easily stroke back throwing four dice. The subsequent attack was, instead, 6 5 5 4 2 and the greedy opponent chose to throw the two 5 in the hope to inflict three damages (5 – 2 = 3). But the unfortunate failed and was killed. And laughed!
BWAH-AH-AH!!!
Note: notice that with five 6 you inflict 6 damages with no escape. This unusual and lethal event takes the name of sapid caracca!
